Thousands Of Veterans Are At Risk For Homelessness, Here's What You Can Do to Help
October 11, 2017
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) estimates nearly 40,000 veterans are homeless on any given night. An additional 1.4 million veterans, meanwhile, are considered at risk of homelessness due to poverty, lack of support networks and dismal living conditions.
The Veterans Services Center in Sioux Falls, operated by Volunteers of America-Dakotas, offers drop-in services for veterans and their families who are either experiencing or at risk for homelessness. The center provides laundry facilities, showers, bathrooms, computer access, phones, mail and connections to community resources.
This month, Security National Bank of South Dakota is leading a donation drive for the Veterans Services Center — and we need your help!
We’re looking for the following items to donate:
- Laundry Soap
- Shaving Cream
Please, drop off the gift cards between now and Oct. 10 at either SNB South Dakota branch (6601 S. Louise Ave. or 4621 West 26th Street). Thank you for taking the time to support this wonderful Sioux Falls organization!
